Syncom 2 was the first communications satellite in a geosynchronous orbit . It revolved around the earth once per day at constant speed, but because it still had north-south motion, special equipment was needed to track it. Syncom 2는 일정한 속도로 지구 주위를 하루에 한바퀴씩 돌았다. 하지만 이것도 역시, 적도와 평행한 궤도가 아니었기 때문에 위성을 추적하기 위해서는 특별한 장비가 필요했다.
